. . Meet Angus Barbieri. In 1965 he didnt eat ANYTHING for 382 days. Nothing. Zilch Nitto. . . Angus was participating in a medically supervised weight loss experiment. He ate NOTHING for the entire 382 days except for drinking water and taking on vitamins and minerals to compensate for his lack of nutrition. . . Angus didnt go into starvation mode. In my opinion this is one of several studies which completely debunks the whole starvation mode concept. If starvation mode was ever going to affect anyone its good old Angus. . . Except it didnt. He lost weight A LOT of weight and he lost it consistently. He went from 456lbs to 180lbs a total loss of 276lbs over the diet period. . . Some quick maths… . 1lb of fat = 3500 calories. . 276lbs of fat that Angus lost = 966000 calories. . 966000 calories over 382 days = 2529 calories per day of energy from Angus body fat stores. Cool eh. . . (Disclaimer – Im not suggesting anyone try this its just a cool study which shows the basic mechanics of a calorie deficit). . . . . . . #rapidweightloss #starvationmode #metabolicdamage #adaptivethermogenesis #fasting #prolongedfasting #weightloss #fatloss #extremediet #waterfasting #intermittentfasting #rapidfatloss #losingweight #energybalance #caloriesincaloriesout #caloriescount #caloriesmatter #evidencebasednutrition #caloriecounting #dieting #metabolism #science #evidencebasedpractice #cico #bodytransformation #weightlosstransformation #beforeandafter #transformation #extremeweightloss
